Stadium Design

The Kansas City Chiefs unveiled renderings for their new $3 billion fully enclosed dome, set to open for the NFL 2031 season. Designed by MANICA, the stadium will feature translucent ethylene tetrafluoroethylene panels and a curved, symmetrical exterior inspired by Arrowhead Stadium. The dome will seat 70,000 fans and amplify crowd noise, honoring the franchise’s legacy while creating a modern fan experience.

Funding and Development

Kansas lawmakers approved STAR bonds to cover up to 70% of costs. The Hunt family will contribute $1 billion for the stadium, training facilities, and mixed-use district. Over 20,000 parking spots will surround the venue, supporting tailgating traditions and community use.

Facilities and Amenities

The new stadium will feature a seating bowl reminiscent of Arrowhead, an expanded Ring of Honor, a hall of honor twice the size of the current one, a fourfold larger team store, and increased luxury suites to enhance revenue opportunities.

Future Events

Starting in 2032, the Chiefs plan to bid for major sporting events, including the Super Bowl, College Football Playoff games, Final Fours, and international tournaments like the World Cup. The field and facilities will be designed to accommodate future expansions without major retrofitting.
